As well as running film projects where participants learn technical and teamwork skills while working on supported film productions, we have also been involved in running specific training projects, courses and workshops for many years. We work with young people, students, adults and teachers, including taking young people abroad on cultural and skills exchange projects and organising INSET days for teachers. All teachers or facilitators on our projects are CRB checked when it is required. A list of some recent examples includes:
PROJECTS, TRAINING & WORKSHOPS

LOOP, BRIGHTON
A 9-week project with Lighthouse Arts & Training and Loop Brighton. A group of young people were trained in documentary filmmaking techniques and made a 10min film about the workshops and events building to the Loop Digital Music Festival in Brighton. The film premiered at the event itself and they also directed, shot and live vision-mixed the live music performances onto large screens behind the main stage.

MOBILE BUS PROJECT, BRIGHTON
A group of young people using a skate-park near Portslade in Brighton worked over 10 weeks to produce a short documentary film which reflected their experiences of using the park and challenged local negative opinions about their attitudes and behaviour. The project was a collaboration with Lighthouse Arts & Training and the youth workers of the Brighton Central Area Mobile & Detached Team.

SIDE-BY-SIDE, RYE HARBOUR
Young people in Rye Harbour, East Sussex took part in workshops and produced a short improvised modern-day Romeo & Juliet film which reflects their experiences of living in the village. Run with Sound Architect.

ST PETER & ST JAMES HOSPICE, CHAILEY

A week-long full-time video project at Thomas Peacock school with Sound Architect in East Sussex, working with young people at risk of exclusion from education. During this week the students developed their own film script by participating in improvisation workshops and then working as film-crew or actors in the subsequent making of the film. Staff were delighted by the enthusiasm and commitment engendered in the students.

Mark was on the film & media panel at the recent Explore event at RGS in London where filming advice was offered to delegates planning expeditions to various far-flung and remote locations around the world.

INSET DAYS FOR TEACHERS
We have run a variety of INSET days for teachers from schools and colleges, covering subjects such as teaching Final Cut Pro, running vocational video-production courses and working with outside industry professionals.

EXCHANGE TRIP TO BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA
Invited to Argentina by Fundacion KINE to run a cultural and skills exchange project, we took eight young people from Newham in East London to work with a group of youngsters from immigrant families living on the outskirts of Buenos Aires. An intensive and rewarding two weeks of workshops were spent learning about each other's lives & dreams and initiating & completing two short documentary films in time to be screened at the closing ceremony of the first South American Film Festival for Young People Living In Cultural Diversity. The project was funded by the British Council.

A series of intensive 3-day and 5-day 16mm camera and lighting courses for industry new-entrants delivered at Circus Media in Stratford, East London.
SHORT FILM SCHOOLS

Mark taught a full-time vocational video production course for 3 years at Newham VI College in Plaistow, East London. The course was run by initiating series of film projects modelled on professional industry working practices where students were taught and supported in taking on specific crew roles. Awarded a Grade-1 by Ofsted in 2004.
